Stair Calhoun
Stair Calhoun, RYT 500, owns and operates the Little River Yoga studios in Arlington and Alexandria, where she has taught for over ten years. She received her 500-hour teaching certification from Tias Little and her 200-hour certification from the Ashtanga Yoga Center in Washington, D.C. She began practicing yoga in the 1970s, studied a variety of schools (such as Integral, Iyengar, Viniyoga, and others) under many influential teachers, and by 2001 narrowed her focus to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. She continues to study Ashtanga with many respected teachers, including David Keil, David C. Kyle, David Ingalls, and – as always – her fellow teachers and students! Stair’s classes are very personal, adapted to each individual, and combine the flow of breath-based vinyasa with the specific alignment details of other schools. Her style and instruction make her sought after by many area sports teams, private groups, and individuals. In addition to practicing and teaching yoga, she is an avid gardener, cyclist, knitter, wife, child and mother of three.
